I like it when, on video games, one’s health quotient goes up as a result of finding food.
I particularly like it when, on monkey based video games, one’s health quotient goes up as a result of finding bananas.
Lately, I’ve been eating a lot of bananas. They are nature’s perfect snack—delicious, nutritious, and portable. I’ll often pack two or three in my book bag if I’m going to be out and about all day.
A few years ago, we invested in a banana hook. This nifty kitchen apparatus keeps the bananas fresh for a few days longer. The fruit avoids direct contact with flat surfaces, preventing bruising.
Whenever I walk through the grocery store, I am drawn to the bunches and bunches of bananas. There they are, just sitting there. If life were a video game, this would be a treasure…near unlimited health & invulnerability.
I prefer to purchase green bananas so that they’ll keep well over the week. I often have to go back to the store mid week to replenish.
My favorite Athenaeum song is “Banana.” It’s a total coincidence, though. The song is called “Banana” because its intro goes ba-na-na-na. It has nothing to do with bananas.
“Banana” was the last song Athenaeum performed together. We were playing a private party and were well into our third encore. Having played just about everything we knew and having a crowd wanting just one more song, for some reason, we went into “Banana.” I enjoyed playing it that day.
Ba. Na. Na. Na.
