33/100: #one-third

One third complete. I’m beginning to think that I’ll miss these daily posts once day one-hundred gets here.

Yesterday was a productive day. With Ivy back at full health, she returned to daycare. She enjoys playing with the other kids. They usually just crawl around on each other and look really happy all the time.

I’ve settled on final work mixes for six songs for this year’s album. Two (not on this six song list) still need some work. I figure I’ll drop the “to record” list by one song and adjust these two in the final week at the end of March. Six songs is over half way there. Six complete, two touch ups, and five new recordings makes thirteen to choose from.

I spent the afternoon charting one of the next songs to be recorded. Charting is writing out a song on sheet music or notation. This is laborious and, at times, boring, but it helps me to visualize an arrangement. It’s also a place where I can try crazy ideas without burning studio time.

Malamander was completely charted, front to back. It helped the arrangements immensely. Spring only had one chart: “Alphabet People.” I attribute the quirky bass line in that chorus to trying out some different rhythms on paper.

Quandary: why is the gym so crowded? It was a ghost town the first few weeks of the year. Now, it’s packed to the gills…even at 5 am. Perhaps everybody was waiting for the crowd to lessen.

Onward.
